SBB – June 2009 Newsletter #2

The month of June 2009 at Silver Boomer Books:

We have a busy summer ahead of us… so we all took a little break and relaxed a bit before diving headlong into all our summer projects. Barbara took a cruise through Alaskan waters, Ginny and Karen took a road trip to Seattle, and Becky took off camping and visiting family in Texas and Louisiana.

Last month we stated we'd be releasing three books this summer season...I am happy to announce that the editing and print processes are coming along nicely and by the end of August we
will have three new titles in print! Watch for announcements of Writing Toward the Light – A Grief Journey, (which is currently at the printer,) This Path (we anticipate a July printing) and Poetry Floats – New and Selected Philosophy-lite, (still planned for August.)

GUIDELINES!!!!

We must stress the importance of following our guidelines when submitting pieces for consideration in our anthologies. Please read the guidelines carefully and submit accordingly. Submissions which do not meet the guidelines will be discarded. We don’t want to have to throw anything away! Our writers are amazing people and amazing artists! We don’t want to lose any of you, so please FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES! Thank you ~smile~

Please visit SBB author Sally Clark’s blog where she posts submission information daily of anthologies, magazines, journals, and publishers; not limited to, but with a preference, to Christian publications.

Another of our SBB authors, Mary Deal, has provided the following information for those who are interested:

"My thriller, River Bones, received an Honorable Mention in the Mystery/Thriller category of the Eric Hoffer Book Awards. Though I wished it could have gone higher, as all writers wish, just making it into the top 10% of all books submitted is a real achievement. That is, River Bones beat out all romance, sci-fi, fantasy, and other genre of books in the Commercial Fiction category. I'm happy. I'm on the right track with my writing." 2009 Eric Hoffer Book Award Winner. 2009 Pushcart Prize Nominee. Mary's Website

And still another SBB author would like to share this news with her fellow writers:

"My latest book of poetry, DEAR ANAIS: MY LIFE IN POEMS FOR YOU is Poetry winner of the 2009 Next Generation Indie Award! It will be publicized all over BEA at the end of the month. Please spread the word! Thanks!"

See y'all again next month!

  1. thanks for the updates, Kerin! maybe we need to point out that a request for 'publication history' means whether/where a PARTICULAR piece has appeared, NOT a list of places where the author has been published. becky
